“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”- Jesus (Matthew 5:10)
Some of his family suspected and some even knew. Rajan, the first known follower in his city, came to believe over 6 years ago, but he had never declared his faith to his family—until now. His entire clan had gathered for a funeral. Rajan’s extended family began discussing his possible identity as a follower of Christ. In the presence of 70 male relatives, he stood up and boldly declared Christ as his Lord and Savior. Persecution began quickly. They ostracized him, stripping away any protection from physical attacks. They will not come to his aid if he is threatened. Rajan is not exceptionally fearful after this encounter and hopes it will blow over with time. However, Rajan is concerned with the way his family is treating his wife, who is also a believer, and their children.
Many believers across Central Asia are just like Rajan. Sometimes, they are fearful and timid, but sometimes they are as bold as lions. God is at work drawing men to Himself and giving them the strength to be faithful regardless of the circumstance. Please join in prayer for Rajan, his family, and others like him who are struggling to persevere while surrounded by resistance. Also, join in praising our Great God who gives His children the grace to follow where He leads.
