At a weekly prayer and study gathering of Kurdish believers, the pastor created small groups and challenged the participants to read God’s Word and share together throughout the week. We read one chapter each day, starting in Matthew, and share insights and thoughts via WhatsApp group voice texts. Each group of 8-10 people, who have been followers of Christ for an average of about three years, will then share with the large group at the weekly meeting. The men and women have a variety of reading levels, some non-readers, and most understand Arabic. The discussion is mostly in Afrini Kurdish, although some are stronger in spoken Arabic, and even Sorani and English.
This has been an exciting time of diving deeper into the word and holding each other accountable to finding ways to study, no matter what our ability. May God use this for His glory and our good!
