While in southeastern Turkey, we met with “A.” He is an imam and Qur’an course teacher, and he took us to the Qur’an school where he teaches and we had tea and conversation. As three of his students listened, we had a very deep conversation about Truth. We sat and talked about things he had previously been told about the Christian faith, and I was able to show him in Scripture how the things he had been told were not true at all. He read this Scripture out loud so that his students also heard. We ended by giving him a copy of the New Testament (which I explained to him had not been changed) and a copy of the Jesus Film.
A couple of days later, “A” called us again and wanted to show us more around town and ended up taking us to show us old caves up on a mountain. On the way, we picked up “N” who is also an imam. We looked around the mountain and caves and chatted as we went. A and N kept talking about Islamic things as they were attempting to share their faith with us. Eventually, we started talking about the Qur’an and the Bible and this gave an opportunity to share the gospel. We talked about a lot of topics but most importantly the Truth of Christ was proclaimed. I then told him I had a gift for him which is the most important thing to us. He agreed to accept it if I would agree to also read the Qur’an and discuss them as we go. I agreed, so we gave him a packet with the New Testament and the Mary Magdalene DVD.
Pray that these religious leaders would believe in the Truth of Jesus and that they would indeed lead many others out of the darkness and into the light of the Gospel of the Glory of Christ, who is the image of God!
