Our city recently had a huge festival over the weekend, and a group of us went down to offer free henna. The design that we do tells the gospel story, from Adam and Eve to Christ, in a simple way.
We divided into three groups and spread out through the festival. Our group did not find any interested individuals at first, as everyone looked at us skeptically and turned down our offers. I was feeling a little discouraged, but we approached a mother and her three girls who were sitting in the park. We said we were offering free henna that tells the story of God’s love. The oldest girl (about 16) was especially interested.
While our group did henna flowers on the younger girls, their mother told me that her oldest daughter had been looking through the whole festival for a place to have henna done but could not find any. And here we were, approaching them, offering henna and doing it for free!
We did the design on her arm while sharing the gospel story. She listened carefully and her mother leaned in to listen as well. When we finished sharing, the girl said she had heard some of the story in her religion class at school but not in so much detail. Her mother also really liked what we shared and was very warm toward us, even thanking us for sharing with them. We offered the girl a New Testament and she took it gladly, along with another booklet about God’s unconditional love through Jesus Christ.
Please pray that this family will surrender their lives to Jesus!
