Zachary* is a man from our city who heard the gospel from a believer who works doing Bible distribution. In their conversation, he was also referred to our house church as a place where he could learn more about Jesus.
When he visited for the first time two weeks ago, before we even entered the house, he wanted to share with me how lost he felt and how unsure he was of how to find the right way. I assured him that the knowledge that we are lost is a very good place to start, because God has come to seek and save the lost.
During the service, Zachary listened very attentively and pointed to the song lyrics which talked about being lost, saying, “That’s me, that’s me!”
At the end of the service, he was eager to participate in the Lord’s Supper, but we encouraged him to wait, so that we could explain the gospel to him more clearly. We had really good discussions with him about the gospel afterward, and Zachary had good questions, appearing to really weigh what he was hearing.
He struggled to understand himself as a sinner, but was helped when we explained how all of us are not only sinners by our actions, but also because of our spiritual inheritance in Adam. This past week he came again to the house church and while there professed faith in Jesus! Praise the Lord!
