Please pray for our language helper, Wilma*, with whom we have shared the gospel many times. In fact, she seems to know and understand the stories of the Bible better than many believers.
Recently, we did a simple version of “God in History” with her, focusing on God’s promise of salvation and the bloodline under which it was promised (Adam and Eve, Abraham, Isaac, David, Jesus). At the end, we told Wilma that about 500 years after Jesus, there was someone who came from Ishmael’s bloodline. When we asked her who it was, she did not know. I told her that it was Muhammad and wrote his name on Ishmael’s bloodline. When I did that, she was surprised, eyes opened wide.
I then asked Wilma what she thought of the diagram. She said she knew all of the stories but had never seen how they connect. I proceeded to tell her that it is clear that God promises salvation through Isaac’s bloodline and that the promise is fulfilled in Jesus. Even though God said he would bless Ishmael, the promise of salvation is not through him. Continuing, I told her that everyone has to choose which bloodline they want to belong to, as it impossible to belong to both.
Please pray that our conversation would really get Wilma to think and that she would put her faith in the only Savior.
