Over the past two days, we’ve had a few good conversations with our local mayor. He’s a longtime friend of a Kurdish man who has been coming to our church for about a year, and two days ago, our friend decided he wanted to introduce us. Our friend, our pastor, and I went to meet him.
Over the course of the conversation, our pastor was able to share the gospel, as well as defend our faith at various points, and then leave him with a little pamphlet. When we were leaving, our pastor told him we wanted to give him a Bible as a gift, to which he responded, “That would be great! I really want to read it.”
Today we went back to the mayor to continue our conversation and give him the Bible. This time, we went with another local brother, which ended up working out well because he was able to cover some of the same topics we discussed the day before.
So, our mayor has heard the gospel twice and now has a Bible and a few other short books to read if he chooses. He even said he wants to come visit our church service sometime.
Please pray for him (Zechariah) to start reading the Scriptures and to trust in Christ. Pray we can maintain a good relationship with him and be bold and clear in our witness. Praise God for giving us this opportunity to share with this influential man in our neighborhood.
