May There Be Opportunities, Peace, Repentance, and Boldness
August 20
Please pray for *Erdan, a Christian ministry leader who, before coming to faith in Christ, hated Kurdish people, but is now moving to a large Kurdish city to plant a church. May the Lord use Erdan and his Kurdish wife for the advancement of the gospel!
So much is happening here (both good and bad, it seems)! Please pray for *Frank and his family. As UN refugees here, they face many difficulties. And as believers in Jesus, they have even more challenges! Since they were threatened (think AK-47), they have been staying in our home. They hope to get police permission to move into a new house soon. Their young faith has been powerfully strengthened in these days, as they saw Jesus protect them (they said they could physically feel Him by their side during the persecution).
All that is happening here in our city is so amazing! We had about 35 locals, including many children, at our meeting a couple weeks ago, and another guy professed faith in Jesus Christ. But, there is a growing spirit of dissension as well. There is a brother, in whose house we meet, that is at best gossipy, and at worst, a wolf. Please pray for us to navigate the coming weeks carefully, as we must change locations – something we anticipate will go poorly with him. Pray for his heart to focus on Christ and not the accolades he gets for “hosting” this growing house church.
Please pray for *Jason to grow in boldness as he shares the gospel with those around him. Pray for him to have wisdom as to how he can pull away from relationships where there is no spiritual interest and shift to others who have that interest. Pray that he will do this in a culturally appropriate, loving way, but that he will be more intentional in his relationships. Also, please pray that he will become more faithful to PRAY regularly for gospel opportunities, for wisdom in relationships, and for God to be glorified even when his words are feeble and awkward.
*NOTE: Names changed for security reasons.
