My teammate and I met with our friend Rahmi a few weeks ago. He asked us to meet him at his old apartment, which meant we also got to meet some of his friends. While there, they fed us a meal, served tea, and did a complete Kurdish hosting. We sat for a few hours and chatted and eventually the conversation turned to spiritual things when R had a question about our views on drinking. We talked about rules and how in reality it all depends on the heart. One of the friends, Sevket, said that Islam just has rules, which opened up a conversation about the Old Testament and how Jesus provides us freedom. It was a great conversation, and Sevket said he would like to get a copy of the Bible to read.
