In most parts of Turkey, drinking water has to be ordered from a store and is delivered in huge 5 gallon bottles. Not long ago, I experienced something quite unusual when my water was delivered. As I shook hands with the deliveryman and lifted the water bottle inside, I noticed that he was giggling. I asked him why he was so happy and he said “Sometimes my mind doesn’t work and I’m a little crazy.” When asked what he meant, his reply was, “Sometimes they come to me.” “Who?” I questioned, and the deliveryman said “Spirits. They come into my heart and make my head crazy.”
It’s not often that I am at a loss for words but I struggled to respond. I wanted to pray for him but honestly I wasn’t sure if I was spiritually prepared for that. Now I wish I had. I told him I would pray for him and ask God to give him healing. He shook my hand again and thanked me. I went inside immediately and prayed for him and now feel a stronger burden to lift him up daily, if not multiple times daily. I was reminded of the Gerasene demoniac in Mark 5 and am praying that this man would encounter Jesus in a way that everyone around him would one day see him with a clear mind and a clean heart and know that Jesus is the one who did this and that he would give Him the glory.
