I recently traveled to another city with a Kurdish believer named Neco, his wife, and another foreigner. We went to visit Neco’s sister and her family, who are also believers. When we arrived, we found that another one of their relatives, Hakan, who is not a believer, was visiting them.
During our visit, we talked a lot about the Word of God, Christ and the salvation found in Him alone, and our personal walks with Him. Toward the end of our visit, Hakan shared with us a very vivid dream that he had had that he said was unlike other dreams he had ever had. The dream was as follows:
Hakan was taken down seven floors under the earth where he visited approximately 60 caves in which dark spirits with deformed faces and long fingernails were. When Hakan arrived at the last cave, the dark spirit asked him whom he believed in. When Hakan answered, “God” the spirit got upset and was shocked that Hakan was there if he believed in God. The spirit then told Hakan that he was the first person who had seen all of that without either being dead or returning crazy. Hakan then saw a light in the distance and felt a sense of relief. He felt that he had hope of being saved from that horrible place. He went toward the light and found someone holding a really white piece of paper. The person then told Hakan that if he ever went back to that dark place, it would be because he had died and he would not be able to escape like this time.
After Hakan told us his dream, we told him that God had sent us to him to share with him that the light in his dream was Jesus. We explained that Jesus is the light of the world, and that those who put their faith in Him will not walk in darkness (John 8:12). We shared other passages with him and shared that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and Hakan could only spend eternity with God if he put his trust in Christ (John 14:6). He seemed very open to learning more about the Word. Neco, the Kurdish believer I traveled with, took Hakan’s number and sent him some recordings of Scripture in the Kurdish language. Neco has stayed in contact with Hakan and has had many great conversations with him about Scripture.
Praise God that we were there to hear Hakan’s dream and share God’s Word with him. Pray that Hakan would put his trust in Jesus, so that he too can walk in the light.
