I was recently able to meet up with *Abraham, a friend who lives in a Kurdish city far from where we live. God has given me many opportunities to share with him over the past four years, but the cultural and political barriers seem too big for him.
Unfortunately, his reason for being in town was a sad one. His girlfriend’s father had passed away. In the midst of the funeral and house visits, we were able to meet. We talked, ate, and enjoyed ice cream in the summer heat.
Finally, we got to have a gospel conversation. I handed him a book that lays out the overarching plan of God in Scripture. As he read a few paragraphs here and there, he started asking things like, “How do we know what is true? How do we know what path to follow?”
Then, I read him this verse from John 6, “Jesus replied, ‘This is the work of God–that you believe in the One He has sent.’” We then discussed the Good News further from John 6 and the fact that we can trust the New Testament.
Please pray for Abraham, and for his girlfriend’s family who just lost their father and husband.
