Boaz and Alan have been distributing Good News material in their home area and as they were giving away these materials and sharing the gospel, they ran into a government official who was not happy with their beliefs. Apparently, he took down their names and made some phone calls. As a result, in the last two days, they have both received death threats. Boaz had some men come to his house and tell him to stop Christian work or they would kill him. Boaz said these guys are connected to tribal leaders with plenty of authority and power in Magi-land. Someone informed Alan’s family of his faith (he’s only been in the faith for a month!) and now his own brother and relatives are looking to kill him.
Sometimes it’s hard for us to tell how serious these kinds of threats are, but we could tell from their faces today—this is indeed serious. They are scared, even though we know they trust the Lord. We did what we could to encourage them with Scripture and prayer, and we promised them that we would inform a larger base of people to intercede on their behalf.
So, please pray with us for God’s protection over Boaz and Alan. Pray for things to calm down in their families and tribes, and ask God to help them to stand strong and continue on, to “be faithful even unto death.” Pray for God to give them wisdom about how to continue and where to go (perhaps to move their families for a while?). Pray that God would fill their hearts with peace and joy.
